Karl Forehand has 20 years as experience as a pastor and counselor. Through the years he has counseled people in marriage, career, spirituality and general life struggles. Karl has training in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Leadership Coaching. He is the author of the award-winning book Apparent Faith: What Fatherhood Taught Me About the Father’s Heart (2019), The Tea Shop (2020), Being (2021), The Hotel (2022). He and Laura also published Out into the Desert together (2022).
Laura Forehand is a second grade teacher. She also teaches a classroom management technique called “Whole Brain Teaching.” She loves her children and is passionate about her grandchildren. She has recently found her voice and is working through reconstruction. Laura is a gifted writer, speaker and teacher.
Karl and Laura went through a deconstruction of their beliefs around 2017 and stepped down from their third church. They still attended church for a couple of years, but recently (late 2019) stopped attending an organizational church. They are currently working together on the Desert Sanctuary podcast and related blogs / website.
