Karl Forehand has 20 years of experience as a pastor and counselor. Through the years he has counseled people in marriage, career, spirituality and general life struggles. Karl has training in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Leadership Coaching. He is the author of the award-winning book Apparent Faith (2019), The Tea Shop (2020), Being (2021), The Hotel (2022), and The Diner(2023). He and Laura also published Out into the Desert together (2022) and Leaning Forward (2023).
Laura Forehand is a second-grade teacher. She also teaches a classroom management technique called “Whole Brain Teaching.” She loves her children and is passionate about her grandchildren. She has recently found her voice and is working through deconstruction. Laura is a gifted writer, speaker, and teacher.
Karl and Laura went through a deconstruction of their beliefs around 2016 and stepped down from their third church. They still attended church for a couple of years, but recently (in late 2019) stopped attending an organizational church. They are currently working together on the Desert Sanctuary podcast and related blogs / website.
